How do I register for the 2018 Hospice Memorial Walk online?
Go to the register here button and complete the form. You will be guided through the registration process. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation email receipt.

How do I know if my registration went through?
After you've registered, you should receive a confirmation email.  You will also be able to login and view your Participant Center, where you can edit your profile and look at your donations.


What is the Participant Center?
Once you are registered for this year's Walk, you will have access to your Participant Center. To get there, click on "Login" on the Hospice Memorial Walk homepage. Here, you can see your donations and manage your profile. This is where you can change your picture on your personal fundraising page, write your personal appeal, and update your Fundraising Goal.

Why do I need to set a fundraising goal?
Setting a goal and making a personal donation will encourage people to donate to your page.

Event Information

Where/When does the Walk begin?
The Walk takes place at Canalside in downtown Buffalo on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Registration & Check-In begins at 9am. The walk starts at 11am.

Do I need to visit the donation tent?
If you have not registered and you are 13 years of age or older, please visit the New Registration tent to register. If you have registered but would like to turn in more donations, please go to the Pre-Registration tent.

What should I wear?
Dress appropriately based on the weather. Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes in good condition.

What happens if it rains?
We’ll be walking and running rain or shine. We hope you’ll still join us, even if it rains!

Where can I park?
Most people think the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park and The Erie Basin Marina are the only places to park at Canalside. Here is a tip: if you arrive via Washington Street or Michigan Avenue there is ample parking located in surface lots and ramps. There are hundreds of parking spaces in Historic Cobblestone District, which is only short two short blocks away from Canalside! Specifically, check out the lots along Perry Street, as well as the First Niagara Center Parking Ramp and the HARBORCENTER Parking Ramp- all of which have handicap accessible parking. There is also on-street and metered parking available on many of the surrounding streets. In addition, the NFTA Metro Rail’s “Erie Canal Harbor” stop brings you right to Canalside’s front door!

How long is the walk?
The Walk is 5k (3.1 miles). View the Walk route.

What if I can’t finish the Walk?
We have a sag wagon vehicle that follows the last walker. If for some reason you can’t finish the walk or need assistance, the sag wagon can bring you back to Canalside.

Where can I find my team?
Arrive early! Set a predetermined meeting place and time, such as a recognizable landmark. Also, make sure you know your Team Captain's phone number.

Where do we get our Team Picture?
When your team members have arrived, Team Captains should take their Photo Pass to the designated photo area to have a photographer take your picture. Look for the Team Photo signs directing you to the proper area.

Where do I get a T-Shirt?
All walkers who raise the minimum $50 in donations will receive a Hospice Buffalo Memorial Walk t-shirt. For those individuals that didn’t pick up their incentives during Pre Walk Pick Up & Registration Day, please stop by Pre-Registration Tent to pick up incentives and drop off donations.

Are there bathrooms?
We will have 13 port-a-potties, 1 handicap accessible port-a-potty, and 4 washing stations at Canalside on Hanover Street for our walkers to use. 

What if I have donations after the Walk?
We will gladly accept Walk donations until the end of May! Feel free to send to

How do I volunteer?
Call our Special Events volunteer coordinator at 989-2360 or email lnestico@palliativecare.org. Volunteer sign-up for the Hospice Memorial Walk typically starts one month prior to the Walk. 

If I volunteer, can I still do the Walk and/or be on a team?
Many of our volunteers request early jobs and participate in the Walk afterwards. Let our Volunteer Coordinator know that you would like to both volunteer and do the Walk. You can also register to be a Virtual Walker allowing you to be a registered Individual Walker or team member and be a day-long volunteer.
